Best Bet of the month: COLOR EYELINER!

It's that time of the month again!! Month the product that I chose is fun and perfect for summer. Check out color eyeliners this month!
For some people, color can be a bit scary. A pink or green is intimidating when you don't know where or how to use the product. Personally, I like to stick to neutrals because it's comforting. It wasn't until recently when I began to explore with different shades of eyeliner.
Image
Many brands have all sorts of colors you can choose from. For inexpensive eyeliner check out your local drugstore. There are also liquid eyeliners which work easier for your top eyelid. Remember practice makes perfect!
How would you go about using these? Below are a few tips to keep in mind:

1. Do not be afraid to rock the color!
Image
Wear the color, don't let it wear you!

2. For beginners I suggest you apply the color to your lower waterline ONLY! Why? Adding this pop of color will brighten up any look.

3. If you love color and are not afraid to stand out, apply the color to your top of your eye lid.

The key to rocking these colors is confidence! If you believe it looks ugly on you, then you are wrong. Nothing looks ugly unless you say it does.
Be creative. Be expressive. Be yourself.
Good Luck!

Tip: My personal favorite color liner has to be gold. The color is usually rich and vibrant. I love wearing it on my bottom waterline in the summer time because the sun allows it to stand out more. My favorite is the 24/7 Glide-on eye pencil by Urban Decay.

"Your eyebrows are sisters, not twins."

What frames your face? Eyebrows.
What people don't often realize is the power of perfect eyebrows. Some people turn to waxing, threading, over plucking, tattooing, even shaving off the whole brow and drawing it on every single day.
Yikes!
Is to possible to achieve the perfect brows? Yes and no.
The perfect brow shape for someone else is not necessarily the best shape for you. You are born with a different brow shape than your best friend.  Here are some examples of different eyebrow shapes.
 Image
So how can you achieve your perfect brows? Here are some tips to think about for next time.
DO:
First: This may be difficult to do, but you need to let your eyebrows grow in. I know you may think you look like a hairy beast, but chances are you don't look too bad.
Second: Once you've grown your brows for about 4-5 weeks, go to an eyebrow PROFESSIONAL!!! I cannot stress how much you should see a professional. It may be pricey, depending on where you go (ranges form about $20-$30). I know it's not in everyones budget, but it's an important step in achieving your perfect brows.
Third: Learn how to fill in your own brows. Although not everyone uses this step, it does look good when your eyebrows are filled in.
DON'T:
First: DO NOT OVER PLUCK!!!!! You will look dumb. Do not shave them off or tattoo them on.
Second: Do not let your friend who has no experience, do your eyebrows.
Third: Do not overfill them in, then you'll look like a mess.
Six simple tips to get your best brows.
TIP: I recently visit ULTA and I went to the benefit brow bar. What is the benefit brow bar? They shape and wax your brows in order to reach your brows full potential. It is $20 but they cleanse and shape and fill in your brows. It's soo worth it, I promise.

Starstruck!

Today was a very exciting day. I had a guess speaker in my class and it was a young woman named Andrea Pagano. She recently graduated from my college and now she is starting up her out PR firm! Cool huh? Well, it gets better. She does PR for Carly Rose, from the X Factor. Not only that, but since she graduated she has also managed to gain more clients.

This woman was so inspirational and I could not believe I was in front of her. I am fan of Carly Rose on the X Factor and it was amazing to meet the person who does PR for her. Anyways, I managed to build up courage and ask for a picture, because she is going to be big one day and I had the chance to meet her before she makes it!

Don't mind me I was looking like a mess. But I thought this was pretty cool and maybe I'll intern for her one day and be a part of her journey!

IMATS NYC!

IMATS NYC!
For those of you who don't know....IMATS will be in NYC on April 6th & 7th.

What is IMATS?
IMATS is an international Make-up artist trade show where a lot of different companies get to together to showcase thier products. There are also other events such as make-up classes and presentations. I've also heard that they sell products for less and give discounts and samples (depending on who you visit). Another thing that is pretty cool is that beauty gurus from the YouTube community make appearances at the show! They either go for themselves or are with a company. This will be my first time going and I am super stoke to go! If anyone does go make sure you are comfortable and ready for an awesome day!

Waking up every morning is never really easy. I don’t think many people look forward to going to school or work every morning but we all want to look good. Today we are going to achieve is an easy and do able everyday look for everyone. You could never go wrong with a neutral look plus, it flatters everyone. We are taking a look inspired by Salma Hayek:

As you can tell, this look is minimum and wearable. This look works for school and work and it is also very easy to achieve.
Products you need to achieve this look:

  • Eye Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion($20) OR e.l.f. Essential Eyelid Primer($1)
  • Neutral Palette: Too faced: Natural eye palette($36) OR Beauty Book Eye Set: Bronzed ($5.00)
  • Black eye liner: Urban Decay 24/7 in Perversion ($19) OR N.Y.C. eye liner in black ($2)

Public relations class assignment!!!!

So today I had to do an assignment for class (obviously!) but I kind of forgot to mention that I already have a blog :/. I didn't forget, I just thought I wasn't allowed to mention one. I hope to ask her if I can keep my blog and just continue to write on this one. Anyways, we had to complete an assignment today and here is my response (I thought it would be nice to share with everyone):

Write a paragraph about your blog topic and the specific reasons you selected it. Does it have personal meaning to you? Is it job related? Is it the topic new to you, and you plan to satisfy your curiosity through blogging about it? These are a few of what may or may not be your reasons; but whatever your reasoning is, be sure to be specific

The topic I selected for my blog was beauty. The reason I selected this topic was because I love makeup and anything related. I was going to choose fashion but I realized that I did not know as much as I thought I did. When I think of beauty, I think of health and remedies that could help you. I am very familiar with this topic because for the past 2 years it has been something I have been dedicated to and I have been practicing. I have seen progress in the past 2 years and I am glad that I have not given up. To me beauty begins with skin care and goes on to makeup, hair care, hair style, and it goes on. I believe that beauty is in the “eye of the beholder”. I also believe that our body (and everything that comes with it ) is our canvas and we can shape ourselves physically (as well as mentally) into what we believe is beautiful. Eventually, I would love to work for a makeup company and learn more about makeup and skin care. With my blog I plan to explore products and share anything useful about beauty. I hope to make people realize that looking presentable, is appropriate, and by that I mean wearing makeup and doing your hair every morning is not a mask that women use to hide, it is simply a boost of confidence.

At the end of the day, I just want to make a difference. I do not care if it is one person or hundreds of people.

Book Review: "If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You"

This book, is golden. I am a public relations major and my friend recommended this book, so I picked it up. My mindset coming into reading this book was :
"I can't wait to see what it's like to work/be in fashion PR!!!"
Boy was I in for a breather. The things Kelly Cutrone speaks about are exploring yourself and knowing that you're important to a company as much as she is. Not the same value, but you play a major role in a company (if of course, you get the internship/job). There are some amazing quotes and inspirational quotes in this book. She's not nice about the industry which is what us newbies need to know. I appreciate her honesty and I feel like I was there with her when she made her mistakes. Overall if you think she's a bitch, you're wrong, she's a woman who's trying to make her mark, like many of us. I learned a lot from this book and I hope people who read this have an open mind. Granted this book was out in like 2010, I'm sure a lot of people have read this but I would reread it, may you should.
